a pointer is a great water and camping dog to have provided that it has been trained for this sort of activity otherwise you will have a dog that just wants to play and some pointers have a fear of water dont understand why but they do keep us posted to wether you get one or not

Pointers are a great breed- but not all are crazy about the water. Your lab should cover you there, eh? As far as a camping buddy- a good choice. They have a lot of energy for hikes, have a nice even temperment, fun to train but will always have their nose to the ground and tend to wander off if they are not trained on recall. They are just more independent in some ways, than a lab, but still a great breed to own.
