My 6mth old toy poodle was spayed on July 29th. She is doing great except she has been going potty in the house. She doesnt do it all the time. She knows she shouldnt because she looks around to see if anyone is watching then she does her business. I have picked her up and taken her outside. But it doesnt seem to help. This happened a few times before she was spayed, but more often now after the surgery. Can this behavior be because she was spayed? I love her so much but I cant stand this anymore. I cant even leave her out of her crate anymore when I'm gone. I feel horrible and want to help her understand. Potty training her as a puppy was very hard. Please dont get me misunderstood, I'm not going to give up on her I just wanted to know what you all think. I dont think this is a matter that I need to go to a vet for. But I am taking her back in on the 12th to remove her stitches. So I will definitely ask her then.

Hi Nessa, In this situation, if you are sure that it is not an infection or some other physical problem....I would say go back to basics. Go through the basic steps with her on potty training to re-enforce them again.
I would also keep her on a leash that is attached to your belt loop at all times when you are home, if she starts to go while she is out with you immediately pick her up and take her to her "potty spot" outside. Any urine or poo needs to be cleaned up thoroughly with a product such as Natures Miracle to eliminate the odor completely or she will continue to go inside in that spot.
Remember...do not punish...PRAISE the behavior you want, be consistent, persistent and patient. Good luck, Maisey
