I posted at the beginning of the week I dog sat and the dog had green goop in his eyes, well now my lab has it! So far my other dog doest. I got online at Drs smith and foster and they had the terramycin. But is said a disclaimer "restricted in CA since it may be harmful to pregant women who in injest it". Now why the heck would anyone be eating this let a lon a pregnat woman. I just hate CA sometimes with their laws. I noticed there were also some dog foods that they cant sell in CA. I will try the feed store anyway, if they dotn have it a trip to the vet is needed.

You know some of our fishing tackle said it on the packages. Scared the crud out of me...
I have seen it on other things as well. If you are worried use rubber gloves, you should do that anyways when applying the meds to his eyes for his safety and yours. Make sure anything you use to clean his eyes either gets thrown away or washed in hot water and dried on high heat. I saw a lady at fair wiping horses faces with a rag that had fly spray on it, the same rag ....on all horses. It was nice of her to want to help the kids out in making their projects presentable and all but she was just begging to pass crud from one horse to another.
When putting the ointment in your dogs eye, I find it easiest to pull the lower lid out a bit and squeeze a line of the ointment into the pocket, then hold your dogs face for a minute or two while he blinks, letting it coat the eye. Hope you get it all cleared up Honeybear, smiles Maisey

Maisey, thanks for the info. I called our feed store and they have it. and thanks on how to put it in, I have never done this before. Do you know how an eye infection is transmitted? My other dog is showing no signs. Do I need to disinfect his toys?
