PuppyLuv, this forum has alot of larger breed owners as well as toy owners. If you go to the toy dog forum, there are many shi-poo owners. It may be more helpful in this type question, because of ppl with experience on this BREED. Alot of puppies tend to nibble anyways tho. My maltese is a big BITER. He is not so bad anymore tho. We have TONS of diff chew sticks. I'm guessing he is teething???? Just try different chew toys when he tries to bite u give him one of those? sorry i cant help much. I'm sure others here will give u more info than me! [This message has been edited by ilovemypets (edited 07-10-2003).] IP: Logged |

Hi Puppylove, your pup sounds like a typical puppy! Mouthing and teething is a big part of being a pup, plus his gums and teeth are probably a bit sore since the adult teeth are on their way in. I hope these help, they are well written articles about puppy biting and bite inhibition. http://www.dogmanners.com/biting.htm http://www.clickersolutions.com/articles/spt/SPT_Puppies.htm lots of luck [This message has been edited by Jas (edited 07-10-2003).] IP: Logged |

One thing to try is yelling ouch when he bites, another is when he bites put your hand farther into his mouth and then say no in a stern voice than offer the hand again if he wants it to bite do that again if he doesnt praise him. Another thing is take his bottome lip and put it in his mouth and let him bite himself. If you can manage that he probably wont bite again onve they realize that it hurts they usually stop. Just some thoughts IP: Logged |
