I have a 9 month old chihuahua that is approx. 5 pounds. When getting her shots the vet stated she should be spayed about now. I'm wondering why? She is an apt. dog and never sees other dogs. Are there other reasons to spay other than birth control. IP: Logged |

Dogs that are not spayed are actuallyy more likely to get different forms of cancer, including ovarian, I forget the name right now but it is basically breast cancer in dogs, and a few other kinds. Let alone they are healthier when spayed. It is very stressful and unhealthy for dogs to go into heat without being mated. These are just a few reasons I will try to find a link that I have somewhere on reasons to spay/neuter. IP: Logged |
