considered GROWN ? Mine is now 6 months old....I consider her a puppy ?

She is housetrained now...learned in about 4 weeks with crate and is doing great.

I'm just wondering what is considered ADULT ?

How many times a day do you feed your PEEK at this age ?

We are feeding her twice a day. Morning, and late evening....will she ever eat only once a day being so small ?

THANKS...I'm learning soooooooooo much....

Hi Sugar-I think it's considered a puppy up until one year of age. I could be wrong but I think that is the rule.

I feed my pekapoo twice a day too. I find he does not want to eat during the day. So he gets about a cup in the morning and a cup at night. I have the added chore of keeping my cat away from his food!

Training for us is coming along. I cannot say he is fully trained. I work full time so it is taking me longer to train him. He is doing well though. I have him on a sched. so he is becoming very predictable. He pretty much stays by my side when I am home and until he is fully trained ( or I know he has relieved himself of both duties) will I let him loose in the house.

Hey girl....well, I thought that was right.

Been meaning to write to tell you that my SUGG had her surgery on Friday, so I have a sick, whinny baby on my hands. Between the bonus room being finished, with carpet layers here in the house right next to where she is..this has been a FUN DAY....

Praise the Lord, there's always tomorrow.

Want you to know....I let Sugg out, just as the carpet guys were leaving and she teed and so I took her up to smell and visit the new bonus room.....she starts sniffing like crazy, so I'm sure it's the NEW SMELL ya know...I mean she just went out. NOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT, she teeeeeed on my new carpet within seconds of her going up there. I was like ...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, and brought her back downstairs where she went to her home, very sadddddddddd. I TOO WAS SADDDDDDDDDDDDDD. MAN, the trials of a new puppy.

Oh well, at least we don't have to worry bout that any longer. The new carpet is CHRISTENED. THANK GOODNESS FOR SCOTHGUARD.

Thought I'd share that little TIDBIT...hope you get a smile out of it....my husband died laughing and said...well, that's one less thing....that's out of they way. What can you do but laugh...bless her little heart, she soooooooooo miserable with the stitches.

I will be glad when this passes. The ear infection...the surgery..all done with I HOPE, within 10 days....OH HAPPY DAY.

Later, Nancy ..........SUGG'S MOM

Hi Nancy,
Geez, I cannot believe we are going through similar experiences. We are in the process of replacing approx. 90% of the floors in our house! (Had a water backup incident) I was in the groove of training Joee and wham, was hit with this. Anyway, we had to move our bedroom, dining room into our living room cuz underneath the water damage floor was asbestos, had all that removed and my husband put in some new tile in the entry way and a hardwood floor in the dining room. Now we are waiting for the new carpet for our bedroom, hallways, and living room to be installed next Thurs. & Friday. So, training has been a real challange! But at least if and when he's had accidents its been on a subfloor ( we have concrete ) and on the old carpet in living room. So for now, its ok. But I have already told my husband to expect accidents on our new carpet and not to freak out. He has done well and not gone on the new tile/hardwood yet..... He is doing prett good on his training but I expect more to come. He just kinda laughed and said he would dispose of him, hee hee, he loves him much as well.
It has been a lot of work to train, just like a little baby! But I knew and expected this. I may have to cancel Joee's neutering. I spent $200.00 + on his last vet visit between xrays, blood work, special diet, etc.(Yikes!) when he was reak sick all last weekend. Not sure I can afford it right now ( , I will need to call and see how much it is going to cost.
Hope Sugg is feeling better. Sounds like she had it rough or maybe the vet was?????? Every day her little body is healing so hopefully she will be back to normal soon! Can relate to the house thing. Can't wait to sleep in my bedroom again!
You and Sugg take care!

M

I think that Joee is right about one year and under still being considered a puppy. But growth wise. Dogs don' stop growing until the age of 2. That is what I heard. My dog Rufus and terrier mix was about one when I adopted him. He was 12 pounds. I thought that was it. He by the time he was 2 had gained another 12 pounds. Not much in height but bulking up and muscles. He is a runner, jumper and full of muscle. That seems to be the rule of thumb for most dogs.

The breeder i bought my peekapoo said that her would be full grown by 6 mths and he was. By three mths he was one a low fat/protein food- no more puppy food. But the vet still considered him a puppy till he was a year old. He is now almost two and in good health.

They should cost about $150-200 HOWEVER, we did not have time to CHECK OUR PRICES when we found this one on the corner by the bank and fell in love with her. She was 5 months old and you could tell she was SPECIAL....and oh, is she, so we do not regret the $300.00 we spent on her. She is not the RUN OF THE MILL Peekapoo I don't think, but then I'm sure everyone feels that way about their pet.

Someone else may have some input on this too. Good luck finding one ..they are PRECIOUS LITTLE PETS FOR SURE.

A puppy can coast anywhere from 200 to 800. These are the prices i have seen. I paid 3oo for mine. The breeders in my state I have found are from 200-350. Good luck finding one
