Greetings:
This week my dog had surgery for blockage in his intestine. Thankfully the piece was succesfully removed, and he is recovering. This leads me to my question: If anyone else out there has had similar surgery done to their dog- what kind of recovery time am I looking at? So far so good- he is eating and drinking, but he seems like he is drunk as a skunk at this point.

It could be the medicine that he is taking, perhaps some sort of pain killer or anti-biotics? My dog has only had a spay surgery. And she was groggy the first day, next day she was walking around. I would say as long as your dog still has stitches or wounds that have not yet healed to keep your dog from running around. Check with his vet too. I've seen many operations of that type on the emergencie vet channel on animal planet. They usually do great after all healed, try to keep him from eating stuff that will cause the same expensive problem. Good luck.
