My little Sugar "Sugg" is having her spay this morning. My husband took her on the way to work and I said good-bye from home. Ohhhhhhhhhhh, now to wait. I had her clean as clean can be and brushed and ready for her little convalescent. She sure was hungry and thirsty before she left...that was the HARDEST PART knowing she was hungry, but she couldn't have anything to eat or drink this morning. Hello Sugars Mummy, all will be fine, and you will soon have your baby back in your arms. I am expecting a baby Bischon in 9 days time, she will be 10 weeks old. We have met her and she is so beautiful. However I had this argument within my own head, to spay or not, anyway the scales are tilted in the Yes area, I phoned the vet to sort out her innoculations and asked at what age they do the deed! Hi, it will be easier on her than having an ingrown toenail removed on yourself. I had my brandi spayed at 6 months of age, took her in thursday morning at 9, picked her up at 3:30 same day. She was kinda punny at pickup time and went straight into her puppy house when we got home, didn't want anything to eat, did drink some water thou. next morning other than being sore at the incision site she was out and about and playing. By sunday you wouldn't know anything had happened. Yours will be fine, just do as the vet says. IP: Logged |

The Vet said that she should stay calm...not active, no running, no jumping, for about 2 weeks. GET OUT OF HERE ....................a DOG calm, not running, not jumping, no playing for 2 WEEKS....I never heard of such. Our other little dog had no problem after surgery....and was back to herself in no time. I do not remember them ever telling me to keep her calm..no running or jumping...they said, she would do WHAT SHE FELT LIKE DOING and that was okay, is what I remember. She wants us to basically keep her PUT HER for a while so she won't do these things. HUH? A 6 month old puppy. I do think we'd have to KNOCK HER OUT WITH DRUGS to achieve that don't you ? I'm not sure I'm getting good care to tell you the truth. Several things have happened now and I know this OFFICE IS VERY BUSY and they DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH HELP. SOME are not real POLITE either. They want you to buy YOUR STUFF there...and sock it to you on the bill, as though your wallet has an endless amount of money in it. I think I may have to LOOK AROUND after Sugg gets over this surgery and has her booster....I do think I need to look around. ANOTHER EXPERIENCE under my belt. Thanks guys, Sugg's Mama IP: Logged |

I think your vet needs to be told to take a hike, two weeks unactive? When I picked up brandi the vet said, watch the stitches, keep her dry, don't let her get in the pond. (she loves to do that, chases frogs) leave the stitches in for 2 weeks, I could remove them myself or bring her in and they would do it. I took them out at 2 weeks no problem. Like I said above, she was sick after the operation but after sleeping the night, was active and playfull next day. IP: Logged |
