Hi,
I am looking for help I am a new dog owner. We purchased a beautiful male maltepoo at 10 weeks he was 2 pounds when we got him and it was very cold out and snowy so I started housetraining in a small play pen area will paper on one side and his rate on the other. He was great from day one he would go on the paper and never in the crate. After about 10 days I started him outside, i took up the paper and he never ever has gone potty in the gated playpen or his crate. Proplem is he will sneak off and go poop mostly sometimes pee i have tryed everything. I watch him like a hawk i take him out often on lead. i have read tons of artilced and read books i can leave him in the crate for 8 hours and he will not go so i no he can hold it. i play with him i take him out in the am and then after naps play time after dinner and before bed he always goes outside. then when i least expect it he goes and hides. So today i lose off all my rooms and he was fine all day then i took him up to my bathroom around 9pm to check on my son in the tub and he started to poop right in front of me i have just about had it. i took him outside and then put him in the crate. what am i doing wrong are some dogs just never going to get it i dont no if i can hold out much longer. My vet said it should only take 2 weeks to train a dog. any advice please gumbey

I really don't know what to say other than that I would keep the papers laid down in case of accidents. My vet told me to keep them near the door. Then when I see him go to the pads, I can just take him out. Good luck!
