I am the mother/owner of a Sheltie and I am wondering if anyone else here owns a Sheltie. I think my baby, who just turned 7 years old this past March 11th, 2003, is the best. Her full name is 'Princess Nakia Anastasia Hicks'.. but we call her Nakia. Either that or Miss Nosey! Ha!

I would not trade her for the world, not anything. Shelties are so very smart, loyal, loving, sweet, sensitive to you and your emotions, funny, spunky, playful, etc... etc... Just wonderful.

I have had many different pets, many types of dogs, but she was absolutely by far the best choice I have ever made in my life when it comes to a pet. I know that if anything were ever to happen to her, it would just about kill me. She is my baby.

I know that whenever she does finally die, which hopefully won't be for at least another 7-8 years, I will either do without a pet, or it will be another Sheltie. They are just really and truly special animals and I can't say enough good about them. They are one of the very smartest of all dog breeds, noted by many, many owners, breeders, trainers, etc... In my own opinion, they are the very best!

Sooo, anyway.... I am wondering if anyone here has a Sheltie, or if you have ever had a Sheltie?

Do you share my love for the Shetland Sheepdog, AKA Sheltie, or do you not like them? If you don't like Shelties, please tell me why? I would love to hear from you on this. Tell us the good/bad/whatever... I would just appreciate it if you speak from your own PERSONAL EXPERIENCE of owning one.

Thanks!

I own a sheltie named brandi. She just turned 2 years old.she is very very smart. The easiest to housebreak and basic train out of all 4 of my dogs. She is very beautiful also. I would definitely have another sheltie if she were to pass. I would love to chat if you like. Email me sometime. Kaylee_Dylans_mom@hotmail.com

Hi!

We have two shelties & I just adore them. We brought home this sweet little girl on Saturday. Her name is 'Blue,' (short for Blue Suede Shoes - to go with 'Elvis,' the other sheltie we have).

She's a 8 week old blue merle sheltie - we're thinking she might be a Color-Headed White with all the white she has on her coat.

Elvis, our shaded sable puppy, is 5 months old and sharp as whip. He amazes us every day with everything he learns. He's about to finish puppy class & he was definitely the smartest pup there - by far! He can do about 10 commands by voice or hand signal already. I'm going to train him in agility or flyball once he gets a little bigger.

Anyway, email me if you'd like to chat & I'd love to see pics of your babies!

Hi,

I have a sheltie/golden retriever cross who is almost all black (she has a bi-black dad)!

I love her SOOOO much. She is 5 months old. She was house trained within a couple of weeks and she is so good. When we hear her chewing, we race to see what she's got and it's almost always her own toy rather than one of my kid's shoes or stuffed animals! She loves everyone and everyone loves her. She's no guard dog - she tries to kiss everyone who visits - but I think she's the best.

I have a Sheltie girl named Shelby. She is sable, with a little white and black on her. She was born 6-20-03 so she will be 4 months old Monday.

I don't own a sheltie, though some people seem to think my terrier mix may be part. I think he could be part border collie. But, I think they are beautiful dogs. There used to be a 14 year old that lived around the block owned by a police officer. He would bark at many people but not us for some reason. Probably liked the company because we would visit on our walks just by walking up and saying hello and letting my dogs meet him. He liked my poodle. Owner used to type him up in front of the apartment and the downstairs people would look out for him while owner was hunting criminals. He would get loose occasionally and come to me block. He came right to me and jumped right into my care, with sasha poodle in it no problem. See even cops have these problems too. I brought him home a few times. But I think they are beauties. Bosses neighbor has a gorgous tri-colored one. Nothing bad to say about these dogs.

You know what I saw today when I was at Big Lots here in California. They had some excesories to barby stuff. I don't collect them but they had some cute little dog stuff. I bought the bobbing head poodles and they had a set of bobbong head shelties also yellow labs. It was too darned cute.
