I really don't know much but before we got snuggles my maltese peke mix we were going to get a pom. I have been told some get to 10-15 pounds , some are up to7, while others are 5 pounds. I am sure they are all one breed in the akc standards because I had read them about 1 month ago. I do know the smaller , the more expensive. I saw a really tiny one in petsmart today , the woman said was 12 weeks and weighed 1 pds. She said she would only get to 2-3 pds. Maybe a breeder who has bred poms on the board can help you out more. Good luck. IP: Logged |

I have 2 pomeranians, 1 I have had since she was a puppy at 4 months (27 months old) and 1 that I rescued about 6 weeks ago, he's 11 months old. Pom's differ in looks greatly, the 2+ year old that I have is a "blue" pom and her nose is slightly smaller than the red and black one I have. They both have more of the "fox" look rather than the "teddy bear" look. They are a wonderful breed to have as pets. They are always full of energy but be careful, they can be "barky" (my uncle has 5 and they never stop barking) If you work with your little one, you can overcome this! I would suggest not getting a "TOY", "TEACUP" or "MINIATURE" pom, they are VERY cute but I have found out that since they have been bred down in size, they can have medical problems. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions, would be happy to help! IP: Logged |

I think that the ones that Christine described as teddy bear are what the AKC finds to be what the breed should look like in their eyes. It all depends on the breeding lines. I believe that the smaller teddy type is going to be more expensive. Only because it is more of what they should be, now don't quote me. I tend to like that look too. I am just browsing thru my dogfancy magizine and here are a coupke of websites to check out in the states. You can get an idea of the cost of them. Now I have no idea if these sites have good reputations, so use your own judgement. www.skylinepoms.com http://lildarlins.com www.fabyanpoms.com I think I will take a look too. IP: Logged |
