I want to gat another yorkie. My Wolfman died on 4/19/03. I am not ready emotionally yet for another dog, but I do want one on the near future because I got Wolfie because I truly want a dog. It will just take awhile. I have been beeching everthing and I am still a little nervous that I missed something even though I know I didn't. It was just horrible to go through parvo once. I don't want to do it again if I can help it. I also got rid of all of the toys, bowls and beds because vets have told me to do this and I would rather start all over and be less worried about having the things that my Wolfman had.

So sory to here about your little wolfman. By what I have read thru this forum. I am with the majority and say its the breeders fault and maybe her quick change of mind in giving back your money, was due to the fact that others were coming back with the same parvo problems. This sort of news around town can squash a breeder. She probably realized she better get it over with, instead of having her name dragged thru the gutter. I hope you find yourself a new little buddy in time. Yes, there sure are many dog lovers all over. These types of forums are a great release The average person on the steet would look at us like we are nuts for caring so much for our pets. They are our family members. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks alot and I do agree that the public would think that we are nuts, but our puppies are family to us. They need to be taken care of like babies when they are young. I had a yorkie and he was 1 1/2 lbs. so he really needed to be taken care of.

Michelle as far as how long to wait. To be better than safe than sorry I would tell you 9 months. You can never be sure that you got everything bleaced. I would recommend that if you get another dog within the next year to year and a half to have gotten all of the puppy shots up to 16 weeks before bringing the puppy into the house. This way there isnt a chance of your puppy getting parvo again and it can take up to the last set of shots for the immunization to take effect. I am so sorry for your loss.

Babes, You can access your local laws/ ordinances on the net.Use key words like, Ohio,State Laws,or GOV.But (I'm not sure) I ever heard of a law that required any mandatory vaccinations other than rabies, So I'm sure it may be a word to the wise to purchase/ adopt animals with all of their up-to-date shots.I sincerely apologise you & your babe were victims of neglect.Possibly making us aware to prevent this from happening to another animal and mommy is a way to move forward, and bring something positive out of this awful situation you experienced.(no luck with the laws, try small claims court,a judge will decide what was right and wrong)it's not against the law to be a victim. It's a contradiction of morality to let an animal be................
****Start by addressing your city mayor, then work your way up to the ones above him/her the ones above them until someone is responsive. Most likely your local senator wil be the one to act.But he will need someone more credible than a stranger to be impacted.A list of who does what and how and #'s Address' to reach them are available the same way I wrote of at the top. Good luck, I hope you can use some of this information

*sorry my e-mail is broken, and can't access my Pass Word... So im a unreg person. I just want to say my mom had a puppy, die of parvo (from a test that showed up) or coccidia (first guess of the vets) but probably parvo. WE CLEANED our hearts out, and then again. my mom got a new puppy at 12 wks old, with all current shots, and she is just fine and dandy! She also has been vet checked since then and healthy. She will have a 16 wk old shot to be safe though. she is about 15 wks old and a feisty little thing. *so to michelle ...you dont have to wait that long, if you take precautions (however u spell that) just make sure you clean again (try steam bleaching your carpets) and make sure you get your new ones shots kept up. And he/she should do fine! *ppl can not say anything about this! It is experience, not off of a website!

People are trying to help Michelle and offer advise, its not about how fast to get a new pup its about making a logical and smart decision. Yes a new pup right away might not get sick or it may but why take a chance and risk the heartbreak and losing everything again. Is it worth that? Also you could have the cleanest house & yard, but some dogs have a stronger immunity to parvo and others weaker.

Michelle said emotionally she is not ready for another dog.

One thing from *experience* a good breeder friend of mine lost her litter to parvo brought in by a visiting puppy family. She cleaned her place to the high heavens and ONE year later had another litter and they too got parvo. A $5000 trip to the vet saved them -- luckily.

I'd wait 9 mths - a year.
