well on the food issue. I am running into a problem. My puppy I just got 2 weeks ago is on pedigree puppy which I hate. My pug is on Purina ONE lamb and rice (per vets reccomendation)because he had skin problems on purina puppy which he was on when i got him.My sheltie and beagle is on eukanuba just switching to adult variety. Now I am getting really sick of buying different dog foods. They are all on what their breeder started them on except the pug and he is still on the same brand just the lamb and rice variety. I don't like pedigree at all but the pup is only 12 weeks and the breeder said what ever I do don't switch his food this young so i am wondering if someone would give me advice on the best one to switch all of them too??IS it ok to switch a young pup. Everything I read says to keep them on the food they were on with the breeder. WE almost have a warehouse of dogfood around here ( just kidding but almost)I hadn't even thought to ask this until I saw this post. Now I am keeping the pug and the maltese mix on puppy foods no matter what brand we switch too.

Feeding Pedigree is like feeding Old Roy to your dog. It's horrible for their digestive track and it makes them poop continously. I have a family member who works for Iam's and Eukanuba she works in the research labs. She says that if you want to feed something that is cheaper but better Purina is the way to go. My dogs eat Purina Healthy morsels for puppies. The vet said that their coats look great and they are very healthy he was impressed that they were getting this from Purina and recommended that I keep feeding it. I would never feed a dog Pedigree or Old Roy

I have been hearing this awful news about Iams/Eukanuba but a while now, today is the first time I could finally get the pictures to show up. It makes me sick. When I first got my dogs those two brands were some we tried. I stopped using them a long time ago. If I was still using them, I would boycott them from now on. I would never buy any foods from a company the hurts animals like that for their personal gain. Anyway, My terrier had itchie skin so I moved onto Avoderm, no luck. Then onto Innova. My dogs love it and no more itchie skin. There are alot of very good brands out there, so weed them out. About changing foods. I have not had a pup in the family for years. My terrier was 1 year old when I got him. But my question is this. When you adopt a puppy at the shelter, you never know what they were fed previously. I have never heard of one dieing because of new food. Why not change it if it is a better food? Of course do it slowly, mixing the two. Even an older dog may get a bit of the runs when food gets changed. Just a thought.
