ive got a show quality spring spaniel with very good blood and i was just wondering what do i have to do to get him ready for the stud fees, he is pretty well trained witht he basics like sitting and laying and staying and the basics but what more do i have to do to start this up IP: Logged |

Well, you need to do something with the dog, such as showing or obedience or field, that will make him desirable for a stud. Just because he can reproduce, doesn't mean he should...and owners of quality b*tches are not going to be knocking on your door unless you give the a reason too. Also, on top of ability and type...there is health, you'll need to see if he can pass OFA, hear, and eye examinations....and what ever else they test springers for.... IP: Logged |

The main thing you want to do is get a full health check .By health check I don't just mean going for a regular check up at the vet.I dont know what things to look for in is breed,but your vet should know. I would also do a lot of research on the breed it self and on your dogs generation.Get him in somekind of event..Make people want to want him.The main thing is health. IP: Logged |
