I am so happy I found this board. You've already answered some of my questions just by reading your most knowledgable posts. I have a male black Maltepoo (7mos) named Bruin and a female German Shepherd named Shelby (6 years). I saw a post here from someone questioning getting a new puppy with another adult aggressive dog in the home. I was also extremely worried about that and talked with my vet ven though my German Shepherd wasn't aggressive, but very much the "Queen of the Hop". He advised me to get a puppy of the opposite sex and take time off from work (3 days) to monitor the interaction. Initially her nose was out of joint, but they are now inseparable. They even bathe each other. To say that I adore these two wonderful creatures would be an understatement. Now on to the Nasty question...Bruin seems to think the cat litter box is for snacks (YUCK). Yes, I have moved it , but naturally it has to be accessible to the cat. Have any of you folks ever used one of those elecric litter boxes that automatically scoops the waste into a container? And do you think they are safe? Thanks for your input. IP: Logged |

Hey, how bout using a closet for the area of a litter box, and having a small doorway that only kitty can enter and exit through? Or, using a corner tray with the giant attachable cover to it, and duct-taping so poochie can't mess with it? Just a few thoughts. God bless. I thought you were from Boston, seeing you used the Bruins name! [This message has been edited by Pauline (edited 03-24-2003).] IP: Logged |

Thanks Pauline for your suggestion. Bruin is smaller than my 15 year old Blue kitty, so anywhere I try to put it he can infiltrate. I'm going to try the self scooping litter box...I'll let you know how it works. BTW, my son plays hockey as a goalie and even though we live way up "heuh" in Maine, we are huge Boston Bruin fans. Also Red Sox. But, when we initially brought Bruin home everyone thought he looked like a little black bear, hence the name Bruin. Of course the fact we are hockey fans made his name perfect for us. I toyed a little with naming him Dallas after my other favorite hockey team, the Dallas Stars. IP: Logged |
