How long are you leaving the puppy in the crate for?

You should not leave a 9 week old puppy un attended. Why don't you try leaving some toys for the lil one to play with. And also leaving an old shirt with a lot of your smell will help calm him/her more while you are gone. If it is possible for you, you might want to ask a friend or family member (that you trust) to watch her while you are gone. Then she wouldn't be lonley, which is why the lil one is crying.

Hope this helps, but like I said, need to know how long the dog is being left in the crate for?

Cheers.

What breed is the dog? Did you pick up from a breeder?

Okay, 3 hours might be a bit too long at this age. There is no quick fix to your problem as all training with dogs require patience and more patience.

Start with the old shirt with your smell on it also leave toys that will occupie the lil ones time.

You should also be giving treats to the lil one when it goes inside the crate...you always want the dog to feel safe insdie, like its his den...that is the purpose of the crate.

I would also suggest that you go to the library and get a book on crate training and also a book on training a puppy.

Good luck, the lil one just doesn't want to be left alone and is probably scared you've left him in there forever!

You could also try playing with the lil one right before you leave so you tire him/her out and will be content to sleep for that time on your shirt.

Candy have you tried to leave a radio or tv on for your pup?Maybe hearing a voice or music will carm him down.
Playing with him before you leave to get him tired is also a good idea.

Are you Crystal who posted about a 6-week old whiny pup on 3/4?? She was a college student too.....just leave a radio on,get plenty of toys, buy rawhide chews, crate the pup in a center room, close door. Your neighbors never make noise?? During the day a pup can whine, heck, it isn't barking! And it is in your house. The walls sound super thin to me, or your neighbors too bossy, perhaps you can egg-crate the walls of the bathroom or center room he will be in for now...good sound barrier. My experience with neighbors is, they can make all the darn noise and party, but forbid anyone else to. LOL! Buy them earplugs for X-mas too..LOL!! It isn't forever....he'll stop most whining. And maybe they'll move! Or you'll get a better opportunity to move! God bless.
