This lady contacted me about her dog who is a little over a year and her 5 puppies. There were 8 but she found homes for 3. She is financially unable to keep these dogs and her mother is allergic to them. The puppies havent had any shots and they will be 3 months on the 19th of this month. The mother is now kept outside and the puppies are in her basement. Needless to say I need to get these dogs out of this situation and either foster them or find them a place to go. I can not afford to get all these puppies their shots without help. I live in Harrisburg PA. I have contacted PAWS and left a message but they said it could be up to a week for them to get back to me. Does anyone have any ideas on who I can call to get help with the shots for these puppies or rescues that would take them. The mother is a husky/german shephard mix. She doesnt know what the father is it could possibly be a chow. If anyone can help me in any way on what I can do for these puppies please respond. The mother is up to date on her shots and I sent money to get her fixed next week so she will be ok in that department. But I cant afford to get all these puppies all there shots. Any ideas Help!

Is there an SPCA in your area? Im in NY and the SPCA here will do low cost spaying/neutering, shots and other treatments for low income families. They really helped me out with 2 stray cats that I took in..even treated them for ear mites and fleas. Its worth a try to give them a call if you have one in your area.

You might want to try this: http://www.hkc.org/breeders/breed-direct.htm
Or this: http://www.siberescue.com/
The second one sounds like you might be able to get some help from them, or maybe you can find someone through that breeder directory. Also, like nern said, check around with any local shelters, rescues, or even vets... they will sometimes have free/discount vacc or spay/neuter programs.

the shelter near me doesnt do spay neuter or shots. PAWS might help me out with a discount for spay neuter that puts it down to like $70 a puppy. I cant find anything for shots though. There is a shelter 2 hours from me that does distemper and bordatella but they need DHLP-P. Ill check out those sites you gave me. This is breaking my heart. I usuallly have money set aside just for animals but my rotty just blew all of that plus some with shots, spaying and she had to get eye surgery. Ill have money in like a month but I cant wait that long and this lady wont wait that long she said she is going to put these dogs outside soon and without shots they are supceptible to anything out there. Im helping her out with getting mom fixed she is setting up the appointment for next week so that makes me feel a little better. I just need help with the pups. I read how some places in like Philly and Pittsburgh do free shots for certain areas. I wish my area had something llike that. I would have these puppies already. Anyway thanks for the input and if you or anyone else has anymore ideas let me know.

Just an update I may have a foster home for one of the puppies and mom. Just 4 more to go. I emailed the second link you gave me but no word yet and havent gotten anywhere in finding help with shots yet. Im still trying though and I wont give up till I find a forever loving home for each and everyone of them. If anyone has anymore input please respond.

I just thought of something...Petsmart does low cost shots! Do you have a Petsmart in your area? My neighbor took his puppy there for shots and I was going to take my stray cats there for their shots but ended up going to the SPCA instead.
Here is more info. about Petsmart vet services: http://www.petsmart.com/banfield/banfield.shtml
Im so glad to hear you may have found a foster home. I wish I could be of more help to you. You are a wonderful person for trying to help these puppies.

Thank you for your responses. I have found permanent homes for two of the puppies. I found a rescue for the other two puppies. This is a happy ending to a really desperate situation. Atleast all of the dogs can get out of the situation they are in.

I'm glad things worked out! I was just reading your post for the first time today (I'm new here) & was racking my brain to come up with some thing for you - then I came to the bottom where I see things have worked out. I am so happy for you and the pups. I hate to see an animal in need. Especially dogs - I am a huge dog lover!
