My girlfriend has 2 dogs that have never been house trained. They are little dogs. One is 7 and the other is 3 years old. They treat the house like a toilet. I would love to just get rid of them but she wants to keep them since her son is attached to the 3 yr old.(he is 14) I put them outside every chance i get, but to no avail and no help from my GF, they continue to deficate and urinate in the house. It is really getting to me. She just cleans up after them. In 4 months we are going to have a newborn.(cont.)

(cont)...these animals piss all over the house and poop in one area.I have had several arguements with her but she is just to lazy to do anything about it.I have only lived here for 6 months. If it wasn't for the fact we are having a child I would leave her just because of these damn dogs.I grew up with animals and do like dogs but i cant tolerate this type of behavior. I am at wits end and by the time the baby gets here and if this behavior still exists i will get rid of these animals for the sake of my child. I am not the dogs master. even after i put them out for 3 hours they still come in and pee. It is quite disgusting. They poop in the middle of the night. they eat once in the morning and once in the afternoon. What can I do to break these dogs from this terrible habit???

First of all your gf needs to get in gear. That never should have been tolerated in the first place. If your dogs are small enough you can litter train them like you do with cats. However use dog litter dont use cat litter. Start them off in a confined area ie bathroom kitchen preferably not with carpeting. Put some of their waste in the litter box and then put them in it. continue this until you get results then you can increase their freedom. If you train them to go outside try the newspaper or puppy pads. Start in large sheets in a confined area, put their waste on it then when they start using it gradually move it towards the door then outside when they start going outside on it gradually start making the newspaper smaller and smaller until you dont need it anymore. You can also try crate training. There are many websites on it to give you info about it. I personally dont use it, but it is highly recommended by trainers and vets. Make sure you and your gf have the same rules. None of this will work if she lets them get away with it. Be patient, good luck and hope some of this helps.

I recommend you crate train these dogs.It will be hard to train these dogs because of their age,but it can be done. You and your gf must be on the same page with this.it will take both of you.Go buy two crate, one for each dog.Make sure the crate is just large enough for the dog to stand up and turn around.Place them in there when you are gone and at night. When you come home take them staight outside and stay there until they potty. When they do give them a treat and alot of praise. When you wake up take them out of the crate and straight outside. When you are home ask the dogs if they need to go potty and take them out about every 30 minutes. If they do go potty in the house and you catch them in the act..strongly say NO..BAD DOG.and take them outside. When you come back in place them in their crate and let them stay there for about 30 minutes. When you take them out,go straight outside to go potty..keep repeating this and they will get the idea.but you and your gf have to keep with it..she can not correct them one time and let them get away with it the next...or nothing will ever work.
Hope this help..Good luck..

This is something that reallllllllyyyyyy pisses me off. Friends of mine were too damn lazy to teach their dogs how to use the washroom outside instead of on the house and this drove me nutzzzz. How can anyone be too lazy to get off their ass to open the back door, but instead watch the dog take a piss or crap in front of them, then get up, get a bucket, get some cleaner and start cleaning.....what are they that dumb...they are casuing more work for themself...can't they see that, but come on now does she really enjoy knowing that she's walking in fecees and that her son is rolling in animal piss everytime he is on the floor...yuck how dirty is she...that's just gross

Anyways, as a solution to your problem.
You must
1. Get a leash that is only long enouph for the dog to stand next to you. Attach it to you or your GF for the entire time you are inside..until you have taught the dog to do its business outside.
2. Everytime the dog tries to urinate or crap inside, immediatley stomp your foot on the ground, clap your hands, yell....whatever it is that will get the dogs attention and scare it a bit so it stops urinating or crapping.
3. When the dog stops pick it up and bring it immediatley outside and praise when the dog does go on the grass or wherever it is that is appropriate.

Now, this takes some effort. Your Lazy GF needs to get off her ass and actually take the dog outside.

Follow those steps and the dog will learn that outside is appropriate inside is not.

Never hit the dog only make a loud noise to get it to stop urinating or crapping.
