My pug is 5 months old and won't use the bathroom outside. I started taking him out as soon as I got him. Every time we go out he thinks it's play time. All he wants to do is sniff in the leaves and never thinks about using the bathroom. What can I do to make him use the bathroom and set a routine so that he'll do it at about the same time every day. How will he let me know when he's got to go?

Hi Emma,

I’m no expert. Just wanted to share our experience with our Max.
Max did the same till he was about 4-5 months old. He then later started to
kind of let us know when its time to go. It became a routine from this point on.

We take him out for a walk 3 times a day. Around 08:00 12:00 and 18:00.
Try doing the same. Try walking him till he doe’s it and give him a good
“good boy” when finished.

When you catch him doing it at home (when he is actually doing it and not after)
say “NO” (deep voice) and let him know you are not happy with it.

Be patience...it’ll take some time but he will eventually get the point.

Cheers
Albert
