We were at our cabin years back, my brother in law had his siberians with him. Somehow the woodstove the (fleu)sp got backed up..The second floor was engulfed in smoke and my kids were small and it was about 3 am. We were all sound asleep. The interesting part of this story is this dog of his did not like me, but came and jumped on me, to wake me. I got everyone out, if he would not of waken us we prob all would of died of smoke inhalation. I know Princess has a good story, hope she will post over here too. Doc~2003 IP: Logged |

Hey Doc, You know me,sure I will post my story here..lol.. About a month or so ago,I was taking my pitbull out for his night time walk.I had just stepped of my porch and was walking around the corner of my house. There was a man standing by my bed room window.I asked him to leave and he reached down to grap my dogs leash. My pit lunged at him, making the guy jump back alittle. My dog never growled or tryied to bite.He just let him know that he was too close to his mommy.I told the man to leave or I was going to call the cops. The man just stood there and looked at me like I was stupid or something.I gave my dog about a foot more lead and he would not let him get any closer to me.I finally told the man if he did not leave I was going to let my dog go..After I said that he took of down the street. Even though I would have never let my dog hurt the man,I did not want him to know that.If I would not have had my PITBULL there is no telling what might have happened. In my heart I know he save me...and a the funny thing about it is my dogs name is JESUS...They better watch out cause JESUS is gonna get you...lol.. My Aussie X "Dooley" didn't save my life..but he saved my truck. One afternoon I was working on the computer, and I had the window open next to me, this window is about 4 ft off the floor. Dooley kept whining and barking, but not loudly barking, it's a kind of "air" bark he does. He would come to me and try and get me to go to the front door, I thought the neighbor was out working in his yard or something and ignored him. After about 10 minutes of this, he jumped out the window in one fell swoop and was off barking (loudly now) like he was out to kill... scared me to death. I ran out the front door just in time to see a man jumping from the back of my truck to the road and running down the middle of the street with my dog in hot pursuit. I screamed his name and he came back..acting very proud. I was a little confused and definately shocked. I took him in the house and sat there wondering what just happened. I was afraid he had bitten the man, all sorts of thoughts about the pound taking my baby away came to mind. I was considering taking him to my horse trainers and leaving him there to keep him safe, when there was a knock at the door. I put Dooley in the bedroom, and answered the door only to find a neighbor I didn't really know and a police officer. Instant fear. It turns out that the man had broken into a house around the corner and had been interupted by this neighbor, he was apparently high on drugs and was trying to take my truck to get away. The police actually had him in custody, after taking my statement, I was told that Dooley had ripped the mans jeans on both lower legs near the ankles, he had left a few scratches, but nothing serious. The officer joked saying..."he was just herding him to jail" I had to show the officer my dog and proof of vaccinations. The man went to jail, and my truck is in the driveway where it belongs. I will never ignore my dog again. IP: Logged |

Yeah, this reminds me of a time when I went to see Jesus Christ Super Star at the theatre when it first came out. I was 15 walking home from my neighbors I went with. It was 12:15am. Considered late in those days. I'm 41 now. My neighors but there short legged beagle hound out to potty. As I was approaching the porch Clydie ripped down the drive way barking visciously. I turned around & saw 2 feet beat feet arouond the corn of the house. Of course I turned to mush & had to craw to the door & could hardly get the door open. I fell to the floor. Imagine if Clyde wasn't there what I would do. I would probably have become a victim. THank you Clyde that was an annoying barking dog 6am while we were in bed. I had a different attitude after that.
