My norfolk terrier bitch suffers very badly from tick infestation, especially in the summer, despite veterinary products being used to help prevent it. I have been told that feeding them garlic wards off the ticks (as well as the devil!!). Has anyone else heard of this, or does anyone have any knowledge/experience of this. I have heard many people on various message boards say that garlic and/or brewers yeast keeps their pets flea/tick free. From what I've read...large amounts of garlic can actually have toxic affects similar to that of onions.I guess its kind of controversial. Many of the dog/cat foods I use as well as some treats contain garlic but only in very small amounts but Im not sure I'd take a chance and feed more of it in an attempt to repel fleas/ticks. I'd ask your vet before doing so.
