I am new... I have a 10yr pomenarian. She has put up some weight. Her skin has gotten a little spongy. When she sits, her two front legs slide to the front.

Now, She is loosing hair from her tail. Also, one night, she seem to be in pain. Has anyone experimented similar symthoms with their dog?

Hi, all dogs show different signs of aging in different manners. But I take it you have had her to the vet? What I would do just to make things a little easier on her is try to find some kind of bed that is non spippery so that her legs cant slide..try to put one in each room. Maybe even a cat bed the fleece ones..I do know that when I put a little t-shirt on my toys there legs seemed to have more support..I would put on them my kids little clothes I used to save..I am sure you can find some like a salvation army..The hair problems could be alot of things. I would talk to the vet, maybe run some tests, if everything checks out ok then maybe a change of diet, or change of skin care..If it was me I would just use water for her baths with no soaps whatsoever just to see..another thing I have always believed in is Cottage Cheese..but with her age I would buy the low fat not the 4%..My little guy Max that I lost in 97 he was almost 16..he started with prob around 10 I just dealt with them as they came along... Hope pom gets better.. )
