Hi, I have a 9 month old male standard poodle. His name is Rocco, and he's wonderful. My worry is, is he growing at an average rate. I know Standards don't reach full maturity until 18-24 months, yet at only 9 months, poeple constantly refer to him as "small". He is 22" at the shoulder and weighs 42 lbs. His father is 25-26 inches and 60-65 lbs. His mother is quite a bit smaller. Is Rocco on track for his age, or is he destined to be smaller in stature like his mom? Also, is there a good vitamin suppliment I should be giving him? IP: Logged |

Since larger dogs tend to grow at a slower rate...@ 9 months old I would think he still has some growing to do yet. I would not recommend giving any vitamin supplements to a growing dog - you may cause more problems than good. If you are feeding a high quality, highly digestible food there is no need for vitamin supplements - he should grow just fine without them. IP: Logged |
