Dog killed, left in unlocked car LA CRESCENTA -- Glendale Police are looking for someone who stabbed a dog to death and put it in an unlocked car. A man told police he left his car unlocked and with a window down in the 3700 block of Fourth Avenue on Monday and returned to find a dead Rottweiler in his driver's seat, according to the police report. Someone had stabbed the dog several times. It was not known whose dog it was. "[The victim] did not know the owner or the dog," Glendale Police spokeswoman Officer Leticia Chang said. "He didn't have any problems with anybody as far as any retaliation goes. He believes the only reason he was targeted was because the car was unlocked and the windows were down." Animal cruelty can be a felony or misdemeanor charge and carry a sentence of up to one year in jail and a $20,000 fine. Incidents of animal cruelty are not common in Glendale, Chang said. In August, someone skinned a large rat and left it in a see-through plastic bag tied to an office door. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 548-4818. Anonymous tips can be made to Glendale Crime Stoppers at 507-7867. A reward of up to $1,000 is available upon an arrest. Gretchen Hoffman IP: Logged |

I can't believe someone would do that. I just don't understand how someone could kill a dog, or any animal for that matter, for no reason at all. It makes me sick to hear about or see people like that. People who do stuff like this need to be fined and/or put in jail. IP: Logged |

It makes me mad that they can only be sentenced to one year in jail. Something that brutal deserves the same sentence as a manslaughter charge. IP: Logged |

I'm not sure about it carrying the same sentance as manslaughter, in the eyes of the world they are only animals afterall /sarcasm. I do feel that the people who do these kind of brutal acts on animals should be made to undergo serious psychiatric assesments to determine their sanity. Anyone who can inflict this on another living creature can do it to any living creature in my opinion. It's a tad extreme, but many, many serial killers started out this way and noone took any notice. IP: Logged |

This really upsets me. I have read that people who create these ungodly acts upon animals 95% of the time are agressive in later life towards humans. I agree, I think they should spend no less than 5 years in psychiatric center. What did the poor dog do??? God, the pain it must have suffered! IP: Logged |

Yeah, according to one of my good friends, most serial killers get started with one form of animal abuse or another! When he was a kid, there was the bully of the neighborhood, and I mean BULLY! My friend saw him dig a whole, and bury a LIVE cat in it, with only the head sticking out, then running over it with a lawn mower! How someone could do that I will never know. Seeing that would haunt me the rest of my life! IP: Logged |

I have always considered that animal abusers should be sentenced the same as children abusers. Both children and animals are the purest, most innocent and helpless. They rely on us to protect them, not to abuse and kill them. So I put his a** in jail for 20 years. Plus I would have him castrated. He shouldn't be allowed to breed. When a dog has health issues, he or she would get fixed to make sure they don't pass on the faulty genes. Wouldn't it make sense to do the same with murderers? IP: Logged |
