My Shepherd/Chow 2 year old dog, who is a house dog, has suddenly started urinating in our living room about once a week. She does this sometime during the middle of the night, never during the day, and always in the same area. We've started to put a pad down in that area to minimize carpet damage, and she uses the pad, but how do we stop her from doing this? They say I shouldn't discipline her after the fact, but I'm not going to sit up all night to see when she does this. Also, we do take her out and make sure she goes to the bathroom before we go to bed at night. Thanks for nay help IP: Logged |

There are many causes of inappropriate urination. Sometimes there is a medical condition (such as a bladder infection or incontinence); sometimes it is a behavioral problem. Please have your dog seen by a veterinarian so that an exam can be performed and a urine sample checked (at minimum). Also check out this link for some good E-books on this topic. I say get her Depends, I had a male do that years ago. I decided to try something, I put my husbands underware on him. He wasn't pleased with the fact that some odd item was on him at nite. Therefore he woke me up, at least its worth a shot..Let me know how it goes... IP: Logged |
