My dog has very bad allergies to where she constantly is licking her feet,
scratching, etc. I have been to the vet, she has been given a couple
cortisone shots, is taking a antihistamine (sometimes three time a day), I
have tried the spray the vet suggested. I sometimes give her a sys(sp)
bath, dipping her paws in cool soapy water (I use the soap the vet has given
me). I like my vet but am wondering why there are not more things out
there, in order to confort her. Can you suggest anything (home remedies,
etc), that I might try. I am trying to stay away from allergy shots,
because I know they are expensive. Can you help me with any suggestions?
Thank you.

Hi Linda,

Our dog had a similar problem with his front right leg.
He was constantly licking his paw.

It was not an allergy in his case and the vet subscribed
antibiotics(three times a day).

Heres what we did at home:
We shaved the hair from his paw and dipped the paw
in warm soapy water. We've added to the water salt (normal salt)
as well as crashed some of the antibautic pills and added them
to the water (in addition to giving him the pills oraly 3 times a day). We gave him this type of bath every evening for about
a week and the problem is all gone now.

Hope this helps...

My dog suffered from allergies for 4 years and we tried every kind of treatment available and when i changed his diet the scratching and chewing dissapeared magically.

Thank you, I will get the hair shaved down by the paws, because she has a
lot of hair there and I will try the salt water dips for her feet. I
appreciate all the suggestions I can get. Something has to help her a
little. Thank you again.

I would maybe try changing the pups food My Rottweiler had a bad skin problem (hot spots) constantly. I changed from a chicken based food to a lamb and rice based food and she hasn't had a new hot spot since
