Yes, I recently purchase a Shihpoo this past April and introduced him to a 15 year old cat. At first, the cat was very nervous and hide it our bedroom but she finally started to come around. Now, she follows him around but does not want him to bother her. So far, so good. I hope my comments are helpful.

We have a 16 month old shih a poo, Sparky, who loves our 6 year old cat, Matilda. He is very good around her, although she would much rather he stay far, far away

my 8 month old shih poo loves everyone (including every animal she meets). my parents have a 12 year old lhasa apso and six cats. bella loves them all. i have even witnessed her helping one of the cats with a "cat bath". i hope this helps you!

I have a 9 mth. old Shih poo and i'm having behavior problems: pant leg biting, barking, finger nibbling, etc. Does anyone have any recommendations? Or does any have the same problem?

this is a msg to Charlie shih-poo.

Personally, i have 3 dogs: a husky, a shepherd cross, and a mini schnauzer and none of them bite, nip or bark, (except when someone rings the door bell).

The reason why your shih-poo is nipping and biting is not because of his the breeds that were used to breed him, but rather it is behaviour that was taught by you. you probably played hand games with him, and this allowed him to think that it's ok to put a human's finger in it's little mouth. it is NOT ok at all. you must stop all of these hand games right now as it can lead to furthur aggression. Because i have 2 very big and powerful dogs, i have been very careful and have been to sites about training puppies etc. and those tell you what games you can and cannot play with them.

it is also possible that you thought it was cute a first, having a small puppy nibbling on you pant leg, and dragging him around the room. again, this is bad behaviour, as in biting on the leash. Dogs see these two objects as a part of you, like ur arm or sth. so if it's biting ur pant leg, or leash, then it is biting you. to stop all of these behaviours, it is pretty simple. when you catch him in the act, gently, but firmly grab him by the muzzle, look him in the eye and shout 'NO BITE!!' then, wait until he's in his submissive position, which is belly up with tail tucked in and eyes looking away from yours. if he struggles, hold him firmly in the above position until he settles down. After a couple days of this, a firm 'no bite' command will stop him in his tracks. let strangers or friends that come over that playing tug of war, or hand games are NOT good for ur doggie's behaviour. both these games can lead to aggression. good luck with your shih-poo! and if you have any more questions, post them here.
