Help! My nine month old male PWD urinates on his front legs. He lifts his legs slightly but still squats most of the time. Will neutering help? Any suggetions would be appreciated. Sue IP: Logged |

Hi Sue, I’m not a vet or anything like that. However, we have a sweet little doggie named Heres a few possible reasons for the problem you’ve described: a) He may have a problem with his back legs, it might be causing him pain when As for neutering, I was always against it as I think this is purely the dog’s choice [This message has been edited by Auspetian (edited 08-05-2002).] IP: Logged |

Had an Old English Sheepdog that peed on his front legs because he never lifted his hind leg much up, and other times semi-squatted. I question whether he may have a spinal problem or hip dysplasia. Have a vet or two give a thorough physical. One sign is possibly "bunny-hopping" when he runs, a sign of a problem in those stated areas I mentioned. Best wishes. IP: Logged |

I have a male 5 year old german shepherd, who has no back problems, or hip problems or any problems and he still pees on his front paws as he hardly ever lifts his back legs and has done so all his life. As for not desexing a dog as it should be there decission, i don't agree with that. Unless you are a registered breeder or show your dogs you should desex them. My dog was done when he was 3 and it has not changed him in anyway personality wise, the only thing it has stopped him doing is his howling and not eating and trying to get out everytime there was a bitch on heat in the neighbourhood.
