Where can I find an organization that tests and regulates electric dog collars? Recently, I have lost a dog to an electric dog collar. She was a loyal friend and great pet. The voltage from the collar stopped my dogs heart. I would like to find those pet owners who have lost a pet or who have had a pet injured from one of these devices and would like to tell their story. IP: Logged |

I am so sorry you lost your pet to this collar type, and have in the past read on this only once occurring. Supposedly it occurs only if there is already a an existing condition of a possibly bad heart to begin with, but have always wondered, if this were so, this wasn't exactly a safe product. Perhaps the Attorney General's office of your state, or better yet, your state's Dept of Agriculture that regulates, researches, all things animals/plants. I sure hope you find the info on this awful collar, and wonder if the collar itself misfired as well. Please let us all know so we can learn as well. God Bless. IP: Logged |

I'am so sorry to but please don't blame yourself for trying to curb the barking. You didn't know this would happen. I bought 1 and the lowest was so harsh my maltipoo which is a large Maltese poodle thru herself up against the door and screamed. The next 1 I bought seemed more humane. It was. It had extreme low voltage & shuts off after so many barks. Our vet hates those things a bought citranella collars at the local Petsmart. He said it worked wanders. So there is an idea for you when you get another companion. My mother thought she never would but she did & it helped her get over her dogs passing. God bless you ,Nancy IP: Logged |

Marcus- I am so sorry to hear about this accident. I am curious what brand it was, the type of collar, what kind of dog you had, how old she was and how this happened...was it after using it one time, or had you been using it regularly? What were you using the collar to correct? Where did you buy the collar and did someone work with you and your dog before you used it? I am not suggesting that you did anything wrong- I just hope we all can learn something from your expereince and if you could possibly share more of this story. These collars can be very effective, but also as you sadly discovered they can have devastating results. Please educate us if you can. Again, I am so sorry to hear this happened.
