Our 13 yr old female Akita died of "bloat" last Thanksgiving. We had her since she was 10 weeks old, and had become quite attached to her. After about 4 months of getting over her loss, we listed our names with a number of Akita breeders with no success, after waiting over two months for an Akita puppy. We saw a beautiful 2 year old male Akita {entirely unexpectedly} in a well-run, Humane Society Shelter. We adopted him because of his wonderful temperament, behavior and obedience. He is neutered and has all his shots. He is wonderful when I walk him in town every evening with people, children and other dogs. My question regards having a "rescued" Akita around visiting grandchildren. I am extremely careful with the dog and children, but I worry if there is a serious risk because he was adopted? Please respond if possible? {my grandchildren are coming at the end of the month.} Thank's! Sincerely, Sharon Watson IP: Logged |
