Hey! Does anyone have any idea what to do with malte-poo hair? we just got a 10 month old malte-poo and are not familiar with their hair. Every time we give her a bath, she still gets horrible matts in her hair. Any suggestions would be appreciated! IP: Logged |

Janessa: Did you get any help for your matting problem? I have a 6 month old Maltepoo and am having the same problem. I don't want to cut all the mat out--her hair is several inches long already and very soft and silky. Don't these little dolls just have the sweetest personalities!? IP: Logged |

i have a 5 month old maltipoo that has the same problem. her fur is ok until you get to the hind quarters and its very matted underneath. i am unable to get her to sit still very long to see if it can be brushed out but i have a feeling its going to have to be cut out & then start fresh keeping it brushed. i'm going to the vet this week and i will ask her & let you all know. and yes i agree, they are adorable. Harley brings a lot of joy to our lives, shes funny, smart, loving (well 70% of the time anyway, it'll be even better once the lacerations from her mouthing have stopped) IP: Logged |

Hi guys! My former roommate used to have a maltepoo (I loved her!) and she also used to have that same matting problem. Really the only thing we found (aside from shaving her bald) was just daily maintenance. Buy a leave in spray conditioner for dogs, spritz it on the matte, and brush it out with a slicker brush. It'll just take a day or two to comb it out if you start at the ends and work your way up. It's a lot of time and effort, but it's better than shaving little bald spots in your dog. They'll probably fight you on the brushing but I usually find that if you just pick them back up, put them on your lap and play with them a bit before you do about 5 minutes of brushing, they'll usually ease up. Good luck! IP: Logged |
