My dog is half lab and half newfoundland - he's a great dog, not yet 2 years old, loves everyone - very friendly, still needs to settle down. He's been to dog school and will perform basic commands, in the house and for treats and sometimes outside during training sessions.
Recently, he has started to run out to the road and chase vehicles up or down the road! He doesn't do it every time a car or truck goes by, but when he does do it, he will not respond to commands to stop, or come, etc. Its like he'll stop when he gets good and ready. So far, we have been lucky that the vehicle stops so that we can get the dog and try to get his leash on him. Once we get his leash on him, we bring him up on the porch where he is confined and cannot leave the porch. He knows that he should not have chased the vehicle - he gives us his guilty look!

Also, he does not go out into the yard without one of us - we have several acreas of land and live in the country. Not too many vehicles come up or down the road. Its not like living in town or in a city.

If anyone has any suggestions, please advise as to
why the dog likes to chase cars/trucks, etc., and how do we get him to stop?

Thanks
