I know I read on an earlier post about someone asking about the white/stained areas around dog's mouth/eyes....and mybabyshihpoo, you were waiting on my update on that product.... (now I can't find the darn post! Hmmm. could it be due to the two hours of sleep that I'm running on? hehe)

Anyhow, I finally received package from drfostersandsmith.com and haven't had a chance to try out the "Show Eyes Tear Stain Remover." Bailey went to the groomer's today and she did a great job of trimming around his eyes, so he's not really stained right now. I will wait for awhile - at least a week or so.

So, how is THAT for an update?? LOL.... anyhow, I just wanted to let you know that I still promise to let you know.
LOL...

But if anyone wants to read about the tear remover product, here is the link: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=584&D=show%20eyes&R=1255&Ntt=show%20eyes&Ntk=All&Dx=mode+matchallany&Ntx=mode+matchallany&Np=1&N=0&Nty=1
I bought the pads -- seemed a lot more gentler and safer. Oh, and I love how they have the "for dogs only" warnings! lol

Hi there~

Thanks for the update, I can't wait to hear all about it!!!

"For dogs only"? You mean I can't try it out on myself...they're no fun!!! LOL

(MonsterBailey~ I forgot to mention this to you earlier. You had asked whether my groomer uses scissors or shavers/clippers. I found out that she actually uses both on Mickey & Tigger. Just thought I would let ya' know! )

Hey guys, theres a shampoo i use called plum white, you can buy it in a HUGE jug. and you diltue it(if anybody wants it, ill get them the 'recepie') you sould be able to find it at a specialty shop that sells dog show supplies. it also really make you pup smell godd, which i guess is an added bonus for some of our furry hooligans.
also when bathing your dog, your a soft bristled toothbrush to pick out any 'eye goope' but pull it away from the eye.
It really works well

I have a poodle and my solution is to keep the hair right below the tearducts completely shaved short. That way when she tears...the tears dont run down the fur and dry and stain it. Instead the tears just evaporate right there or get wiped off without sitting on fur and drying which is what stains it.

The show dogs are usually bleached out carefully and white chalk is allowed on those breeds for shows to give a cleaner white look (this is from what I've been told). I've never had a tear stain product work before personally.

Unfortunatly the CKC banned all fake substances on dogs. A LOT of people use chalk, because its hard to feel in a lot of toy dogs, I know one lady wanted to win SO bad that she used actual bleach right out of the big ol' jug. her dog fainted from the smell and is now also blind in one eye. his show days are over.
there is also a little 'beard comb' you can use that is just the right width to pick out those half runny 'eye boogers' but hte stains stay.

O and i forgot there is something kinda new out there, there liquid filled swabs that ,after washing around your dogs eye you swab with the swab and it protects the hair from stanage.
