If you want something tiny I would go for a standard dog that is small, such as a chihuahua, pomeranian, etc. I would not encourage the purchase of any kind of a dog that ends in -poo, as most are sold in mass quantities in petstores and bred in puppy mills, plus purchasing one of those would put you way over 400 with what petstores charge for them. We actually own one of the new "hybrid" trend dogs, a puggle (pug/beagle), but we did not get her directly-- my friend found a website advertising them, bought her and then thought she was way too hyper (the owner of the petstore had not explained at all to her the characteristics of the breed- he just cared about the money so told her only what she wanted to hear)- so we took her in. I want to get another, but I would never purchase from a petstore, I will look at adopting, since more and more puggles and other such "hybrids" are turned into rescue every day.

My friends got their chihuahua from a local breeder- I know people say don't look in the paper, but I think it's the best way to find local breeders versus those that are selling and breeding in mass quantities.

As I mentioned above, you could look at petfinder.com to search for pups in local rescues. A lot of the time puppies in rescue are of the larger breed variety, but as i said there are more and more "hybrid" pups that are being turned in, so you may find the bichon-poo that you are looking for. Good luck!

The mixed breeds are more often than not bred with miniature poodles as opposed to toy poodles. Get a purebred dog. There are chihuahuas usually in the newspaper ads averaging about 300 to 350 in price. If that is all you have to spend however, I advise you wait on getting a dog altogether. You should have at least 1000 in the bank AFTER purchasing the pup in case of emergency vet expenses. Not to mention the dog is the least expensive part of owning a pet quite often. Accessories...food...training...shots..spaying/neutering etc.
