I am new to this site. I have a twelve year old female toy pom but I just got her in July 2003. So I am fairly new to her care. She suffers from frequent collapsed trachea and at the moment she appears to have something caught in her throat. She keeps trying to clear it. I'm not sure what it is. It could be a dust ball or could be a small piece of food. She likes to scavenge around and find things. I tried giving her a few drops of syrup but I don't see a difference. She seems fine otherwise. Does anyone have any suggestions for relief of either?

when bella seems like she has something caught in her throat i give her robitussin.. the straight guafinesin type.. bella sometimes gets thick mucous, which causes her to cough, and the vet suggested 1 tsp. of robistussin.. but check with your vet before administering any meds!

Both of my poms when they get excited will start to hack, might be coughing not sure. They act like they are trying to get a hairball out. This is fairly new and they will be going to the vet soon. But I have heard poms have alot of respitory problems.
