And, why did you choose that particular sex?

Just curious

To be very honest, I didn't want to have to deal with a girl going into heat....... ick! LOL! And yes, I had Bailey neutered (which I would have had a girl spayed) but I didn't even want to deal with it cuz I heard you had to let them have one heat before (or something like that). Besides, I really think Daddy wanted his little "son" hehe

Good point Monster! I am sure my hubby would love to have a *son* too!

Anyone else have any thoughts?

I vote for male!!!

Overall, it is MY belief (and usually the general consensus) that males are a little better all around. That is surely not to say though that one would not be happy with a female (as I know many who have female pups and are very happy with them)!!!

I will say this though, there are a few breeds out there that a female is supposedly "better" than a male. I've heard it mentioned a couple of times, but I can not recall which breeds that was specific to.

When I got Natalie I really wanted a male dog (maybe because we always had male dogs growing up, not sure) but there were only females to choose from so I did'nt really have a choice...I would have been happy either way. Now I have one of each.

In my personal experience, males tend to be a little less high-strung than females, in general. But that doesn't mean I'd necessarily choose a male over a female.
