What does the airline require when you bring you pet with you in the cabin?

Tgiles, if you are planning on traveling you need to contact the specific airline as to their rules. Every airline is different and not all airlines allow you to bring your pet in the cabin. You should go to your airline's site and try their FAQs, I noticed before that most have their rules posted.

If the airline allows it - then there are restrictions of course: a limit to size and number of pets, also your pet must be in the carrier the entire flight and small enough to stow under the seat (usually the seat in front of you), etc.

Bottom line, I suggest you check with the airline

Health certificate and an airline approved bag....a reservation and probably something like a 50 dollar fee I think is the standard. Those Sherpa brand bags (on the pricy side for what they are) are approved by all major airlines I believe.

everything the other two posted is correct, to my knowledge.. i also wanted to add that most airlines will only allow one peron to bring pets on board on each flight.. also, they usually want a 2-3 month advance reservation.. but definitely check, each airline differs.. also, there is a weight limit.. usually 10 lbs..

basic airline rules state that you must have an airline approved bag (SHERPA is the most used) you can buy pet carriers at a luggage store.
what ever dog has vacinations i bring a ceftificate copy of the vacination date, ID tags, leash, small bag of food and dish and small water bottle.
One major rule of the airlines is that youyr dog must be in your control at all times. No matter how cute it is- i know first hand- but contact the airline to find out for sure.

Thanks. I got her health certificate yesterday. I ordered a soft sided pet carrier and we ad to by puppy training pads to put inside of it. We told the airline that we were traveling with a dog in the cabbin. They gave us a 24 hour waiting period and confiremed that we were all set to go. Alaska is where we live now. I am moving to Florida in 9 days!!!!!!! I am overjoyed. Thanx for all your help.
