I know that this is a "common" question. It's very difficult to get my chi to eat when I place food out for her. I tried several methods - 1)removing the food and replacing it after a while, 2) Fake eating it myself to demonstrate to her to eat, and letter her skip the meal altogether

She just sits there with one foot raised as though she's expecting something or asking for something.
When I place food in her dish, she sniffs it and then loses interest. If I take some food and place it on the edge of the dish, she is more likely to eat that bit, and SOMETIMES will eat the rest, but more often than not, she'll just eat the food on the edge of the dish and then lose interest.

I could use "techniques" to get her to eat!
Thanks!

I would take her for a check up, if you haven't to rule out whatever could be the culprit. BUT if you have been spoiling her with food from your plate thats a whole different issue. Try putting some salt free broth on her food to tempt her. That always worked for me. as she goes along with it and eats daily start to put less and less of the broth until it is her regular hard kibble. try that. You can make your own broth too. Skim off the fat.

Thanks for the reply. I actually never gave her human food and have been very cautious with training treats. I recently removed treats altogether, but I can't say that, perhaps she's stilll waiting for them.
More than that, I think there's something peculiar with her behavior as it seems like she's truly ready to wait hours for me to give her some attention before eating.

I also have had a hard time getting my chi to eat. Like you, I don't feed her table scraps and very little treats. Some techniques that have helped me are:
1. Make sure her bowl is on a carpeted surface. They like there little paws to be cushioned when they eat.
2. My chi loves when I tear up baby food meat sticks in with her hard food.
3. Sometimes if she still won't eat I'll turn on our little space heater next to her bowl. That always gets her in the mood to eat.
Good luck!
