I am a first time dog owner and have a 7 months Yorkie male. He is extremeley submissive and urinate when he is scared. When he first saw himself in a mirror he pissed on the floor and then barked, he kept doing it until I put him in front of the mirror and told him it was him touching the mirror, etc.
I work all day and dont go home until past 7:00pm so I have trained him to go on puppy pads. He does it most of the time. At the beginning, when I got home and found an accident I got really angry and started cleaning and yelling at him, so now I think he is afraid to eliminate in front of me. I have only see him doing no. 2, twice in 3 months and I noticed that as soon I enter the shower he runs to the pad to urinate, even if he doesnt have to go.
Please tell me what to do ... I feel he is afraid of me and that breaks my heart. When I have friends over he seems to enjoy being more with them than with me. If I walk towards him he runs to his crate. But when I get home, he jumps like crazy and sounds like he is gasping for air. What can I do to make him trust me?? Also, he licks people and himself obsessively, why??
Thanks for all your help!

Hello i have 2 1 year old Yorkies and i'm gone all day also and i have tried to pad train them but they just rip it up so i let them out before i leave at 7am my daughter lets them out before she leaves at 9am or 10am and my son lets them out when he comes home about 230pm we have had a lot of accidents but i never never yell at them unless i saw them do it they dont know what they did or why i was angry at them. I think you should just hold your baby and give him lots and lots of love yorkies are very high strung you have to have alot of patince with them. Also if he has not gone #2 in that long i would call the vet. does he go outside when you are home and maybe you just havent seen it??? also by the way when my Male was younger he would hike his leg on everything, walls, couch, beds everything if i cought him doing that i would yell at him and tell him he was bad but he would get sad so i would pet him and tell him i love him after a few min. i think your baby just needs alot of love and maybe a call to the vet if he has not gone #2 also if you see him pee on the pad tell him he is a good boy and praise him maybe give him a treat

ps my yorkies lick and jump all over anyone that comes over they love everyone i'm tring to stop that but it is so cute. That is how i wake my kids up in the morning i let sebastain and jasmine in their rooms and let them lick them till they get up hehehe

good luck keep us posted
