My parents have recently gone on an extended vacation and left their three year old yorkie for me to care for. Horror of horrors, he has not been properly housebroken! They explained that he's "easy to clean up after" on their tile. He urinates up to five times daily. I take him outside every few hours, but he steadfastly refuses to go, then promptly pees on my carpet when we go inside. I have a crate for him, but he goes completely nuts when I put him inside, and won't stop barking. Any ideas?

I have 2 Yorkies one is 1 1/2 and the other is 1 today they are the hardest dogs to potty train. i bought those pee pads and they just chew them up. when i'm at home i leave the back door open and they are usually pretty good about going out but they mostly go potty in the middle of the night when i'm sleeping i tell them they are bad dogs and put them out but with 2 it's hard to tell which one is going. My male has even hiked his leg on my walls they in my opion are the hardest dogs to potty train. my rotty was really easy. Maybe he just miss's them alot they become very attached when i went on vacation my little boy wouldnt eat i had to talk to him on the phone then he was fine
