I'm so sad. I just bought another long hair Chihuahua for my Nestle to have company when I'm gone and to stud out when he's older. My problem is, I was told he was vaccinated against kennel cough (it's actually on his papers that he had the vaccine at six weeks) but now he and Nestle both have it. We took him to the vet the day after we bought him and she checked him out fine even though we told her he had a phlegmy cough the night before. Now it's full blown in both of them and I'm kind of not sure what to look for if they get a secondary. Any advice? (P.S., yes, Bentley is adorable. Brindle with white face, chest, and feet. No pics of him or Nestle yet)

Secondary meaning if it happens again? The cough and bubbly cough up stuff. Just make sure they get put on anti-biotics as you know is very contagious for dogs. Its like a human cold. My two have had it. Sasha had it back in april, I was up all night with her coughing every hour. It heart breaking. Hope your pups are ok. Can't wait to see the new one and nestle.

Sorry to take so long posting back. Nes got put on antibiotics by our vet (we had a vet under contract with Bentley's sellers diagnose originally and said to let it run its course). She got really bad. Gave all antibiotics and it's not even kennel cough. My vet thinks both their tracheas are closing, so we're getting them on new meds next week. He told me it's something like an inhaler would be to an asthmatic person as in it opens up the airways and helps them breathe. What I'm not understanding is, I've used a menthol breather (not the rub, but vapor) and it's helped Nestle. Both are bouncing off the walls with energy and seem otherwise extremely healthy. I dunno. If this med doesn't work, they have to have aprocedure done because we can't figure out anything else it could be.. I'll try to get pics of the darlings up soon, but don't have a scanner. Need to work on that!

I hope both your pups are doing well. I hate to say it but given your new one has these problems it may be in the best interest not to stud him out. Sorry that this is happening to your babies.

I agree with not studding him. I won't even consider it now, but I'm seriously bummed because I spent over $1000 (not a typo) on him and I don't know what I can do now. My friend's looking into a lawsuit against the breeders, but I doubt it will go over at all. Oh, well. I still have a really sweet pup that loves me and everybody else .

You know if you sue them you may come out of it possibly with repayment. Did the puppy seller know that you want to be able to stud out your dog? The thing they may have said to you is if there is anything wrong with the dog to return him and either get a new one or refund. That is alot of money to not have any alternative.
