My yorkie will absolutely hold it all day long on a rainey day. It's been raining here for two days and he knows he should not go in the house and he doesn't want to step on the wet grass. I'm confused because this is the same dog who will jump in the bath tub while it's running or the shower every chance he gets. Anyone having this problem? I tried to put him out in the grass 2x's yesterday and he freaked out, to the point that I felt bad for putting him down in the middle of the yard. My younger puppy has no problem. She always looks like a little wet mouse on rainy days cause she runs right out and into the middle of the yard. I hate to keep him locked iin his crate on rainy days but if I let him out he's going to let out about two days of pee right on my carpet. He will hold it until he just can't hold it any more. He just refuses to get anywhere near the back yard when it rains. It's not like my yard floods or anything so I'm really concerned. It's got to be uncomfortable for him as well.

I'd try getting some puppy boots for him, and maybe even a rain coat. If he still doesnt want to go outside, buy some Pee Wee pads, the smell attracts them to that spot only. So he wont pee on your carpets.

Good luck!!

I'll give the booties a try he is just so strange with his feet, if the grass is even a tiny bit wet he won't go on it and if he does he's pratically walking on two legs cause he doesn't want to put his paws down.

Also, there could be a need of training here. You might give this a try. Take a favorite toy, or treat (probably treat will work better) and go outside with him (put him on a leash) and give him the treat while he is on the wet grass. See if he forgets all about it with a treat. Also talk to him.

My poodle hates the wet grass too. Just the other day I took her out and as soon as she felt the moisture in the grass she tried to back her way out. She would not go. On rainy days I put on her rain coat(yellow slicker type) and make her walk down the street until she picks a spot to go. Of course I have on my jacket too and we all get pretty wet. But I have to say it is common, but you just have to go out therre with her.If you don't already.
