I hope this picture shows up of my baby girl Mia. She's my adorable 7 month old Shih Tzu Maltese mix. I was wondering, is there a special name for this mix? Also, I'm thinking of breeding her eventually, so what would be some suggestions - breeding with another Shih Tzu or a Maltese?

I can't see your picture sorry. And I really wouldn't know of a name for the 2 mixes. I have a male maltese puppy! He is soo cute, so I'm guessing yours is too! My opinion is not to breed, cause it is very rough on the dogs. I've heard it can change their personality and in worst cases, they can die if everything doesn't go smoothly. But thats all I say cause its all your choice. I wonder why I cant see the picture .... I see a box with a red X.

Hi Sandy! Sometimes the pictures disappear after a while...who knows why.

I also have a maltese/shih tzu mix. Graysie will be 6 months old next week and weighs 7.6 pounds. There really isn't a special name for this mix (like a maltepoo), but I have heard them called malt tzus.

Here is a picture of my gorgeous girl. This was taken the day after she was spayed, so she's a little groggy.

While I'm posting pictures...here is her 9 month old brother, Baxter the maltepoo. He's 11 pounds.

Try to post your picture again - I want to see her!

Diane

I really have not heard anyone dub them any specific name but before I read Dbuzz's post I was thinking Malti-tzu sounded good to me and wammo her too. We dub them, Malti-tzu. Have you done much grooming with little mia (which is a very cute name and not heard commonly) I see her picture. Very cute, Is she 7 months in the picture. It looks to me like a few months old, I could be wrong. So how much does Mia weigh. She has the tri-coloring of my terrier mix.

No, Mia was only 4 months in the pic that I posted, she's going on 8 months now though! I'll post more recent pics soon... she looks so grown up now! LOL
Oh, and yes I get her groomed about every 6 weeks. She doesn't shed, but her hair does tend to get knots no matter how much I brush her.

Sandy,

Graysie was also tri-colored, with black on her face and tips, when she was younger. Her hair started growing in white and I thought she was going to lose her beautiful red/gold coloring too. Thank goodness, the same hair on her back is now growing in red/gold again! She looks sort of neopolitan back there.

How much does Mia weigh? I'd love to see a bigger picture of her.

Jjami, I've seen your pictures of Harley and she looks a lot like Baxter! He's not very photogenic so it may be hard for you to see it, but they look very similar and sound alike in many ways!
