I bought my daughter a peekapoo for Christmas, we named him Rudy. I am not a dog person but this dog is the best little dog. He potty trained in 2 weeks we we're taking him outside every hour and getting up once at night with him. We trained him to ring a bell to go outside. He is very smart and loveable. He is not a lap dog but is still very loveable. I'm glad he's not a lap dog because he's not constantly on you. He has always been very good around all people. One thing that does bother me is he gets very loud and excited around other dogs. But I love him and would buy a peekapoo again!

I grew up with peekapoos. They are the smartest and sweetest dogs I have ever encountered. They do tend to be attached to one person in particular, but they are sweet with everyone. They are very patient with kids also. Tend to be emotional, if you go out of town and board your peekapoo, or leave with friends, be prepared to hear sad stories about your dog whining and not eating very much while you are gone. They are very loyal to you. I'm trying to find one for my mother right now. Their latest one died last year, she was 14 years old.

Mine was the very best little dog, it never nipped at anyone, or bit anyone at all. He would growl if he didn't know you, which a good little dog should I think, but was never, ever aggressive. My little girl could squeaze him and pull on his tail and everything and he never, ever offered to do anything to her when she was a baby. Of course, I didn't let her do that very often either, she had to learn not to do that..ha!

Pooh, which was my dog's name, was loving, playful, sweet as everything, funny, etc... He was killed by a car when almost six. Neighborhood kids opened my gate and he got out.

A friend of mine has a Peek-a-poo also, female, and hers is the same way. Sweet and playful and loving.

They are active and very playful, easily housebroken and trained. They mind very well, at least mine did, and my friends does, and never chewed up stuff, didn't beg at the dinner table and all that. I think they are great little pets. Then again, it all depends on the temperments of their parents as well. If they parents are nippy and skittish, the puppy will probably be as well.

We have had our Peekapoo male "Cosmo" since he was 7 weeks old. He is a wonderful little dog. If you don't have time to devote to a dog don't get one. Our little fella requires allot of attention. He wants to play all of the time and even brings his toy of choice. He cat naps on our lap and car rides very well.

Most of all he does require allot of attention. As with any dog, if you don't have the time or patience don't get a dog. Obedience training is very important with any dog. These little dogs are so cute they tend to get away with everything. Don't let their cuteness fool you they are also very smart.

He is friendly with everyone, but does not like to be ignored. Remember a puppy is a puppy for the 1st 2 years of their life. Having Cosmo has been like having another child but we would not change a thing he is a great little dog.

I have a question for Doodle: What sort of papers did your inlaws get for their peekapoo. Is it a health guarantee. I thought you could only get papers from AKC if they were full breed. Maybe they are papers saying mom and dad were both full breed this or that. Just curiuos.

The CKC gives papers on purebreed mixed breeds. My pekapoo has papers also.

We have had peekapoos/pekapoos for many years now. We absoultly love everyone of them. They are all so very loving, cudly, sweet, kind, smart and well behaved. They are truely the best kind of dog I have ever had. I have had all of mine around my little sister when she was an infant, small children and children of all ages. My babies even participate in Pet Therapy with the elderly, disabled and handicapped.

I guess everyone has different opinions, however, I've always heard positive comments regarding pekapoos.

All of our babies are CKC (Continential Kennel Club) Registered. You can learn more about CKC on their web site at:
www.ckcusa.com

We even have 2nd, 3rd+ generation pekapoos.

I hope this information helps.

I'm sold on Peke-a-poos I will always have one. I have a sixth month old peke-a-poo and the only thing she does not like is cats. She does hate my mom's cat, Shaka , however, Shaka has been known to chase down adult dogs, and needs to be sedated before visits to the vet. Miette seems to think she can take him, lol, whenever we go over my mom's house she tries to provoke him, other than than I've never heard her growl or be aggressive towards anyone or any other kinds of dogs.

Puttin,
CKC,DRA and other Mix Clubs including the Cockapoo Clubs register if you have one or two of the parents registered with them .Alot of breeders use this registration to say "The Puppy has papers " makes people believe that is an important factor .It is only to a degree, the paper as in any registry is only as good as the breeder and what they write down ,which is one reasn even AKC has a hard time with Pedigrees. .You can apply with AKC in Michellanous after you show you have been at it for awhile and are breeding for a reason /such as the JR had to do to eventually become reconized .
AKC hasn't been around forever and started the same way as CKC and other clubs .They all fight on a continuous basis on what is purebred and what isn't .They (the registries ) fight about everything and try their best to knock each other when they can .You can find and read articles that on each website the registry has inserted the name /names of the others on the same knock down articles .CKC is getting better as far as not just letting people say "This is a certain dog and I need to register it " They are becoming more strict and being a breeder I hear alot of complaints about that as breeders are having to actually prove what the dog is now to them .DRA is okay but they are messed up internally .Probelms getting anyones paperwork right and one will tell you one thing and another another .So ,all in all the breeders that use a registry ,use it to sell a "Papered Dog " .It does not mean they are a reconized breed ,just that they are in a Michellenous Class .Some registries use "POO CLASS " Some Michellanous .I personally think each Cross breed should have it's own club and registry and themn the public can learn the good and the bad .Wanted you t know that alot of breeders use the "paper" as a selling instrument .It is a way they can say ,Look ,we can register this dog .Yes you can register that dog ,but it really means nothing in itself as the cross is not and if first generation or second and mostof the time even third is not considered a true breed .It is a Michellanous Cross Breed .Only .
