I was just curious if people let their cats on counters and if you do are there certain counters (like the kitchen) that they are not allowed on and others that they are. I use to let my kittens jump on everything. I finally broke them of the kitchen counter jumping. However they are always on the dining room table, knocking things off. We never eat on the table so we never stopped them from jumping on it. But now it is getting annoying cause they keep knocking things off and going through stuff on the table. So i was wondering what other people do in their homes, and if maybe I should start spraying them with a water bottle everytime they jump up there. Thanks

my cats get on the counter. I have to feed them up there cause my 10 year old dog would not let them eat if she could get at their food.

I just keep my counters clean...I'm always washing them off.
Also my logic is if they can get on my furniture I don't really see a whole lot of difference with them being on the counter. Like I said I just clean it a lot....I use the Clorox wipes cause they are handy. So whenver I cook I wipe, after they eat I wipe.

I've been struggling with my cat on the coutertops for months. I wish I had some advice, but I've not found anything that works.

My cat jumps on the counter, table, wherever he pleases. I used to feed him on the table(i have dogs who LOOOOVE cat food) but now he eats on the dryer.

I think, with him, trying to get him to stop would be futile. The more I tell him no, the more he does it. But I don't really care. He's a clean cat. Clumsy though.

We let our cats on the counters. They don't usually go on them, though. Only one cat does and it's because we had a resident mouse in our home last year and that's where I think she nabbed it.

It doesn't bother us to let the cats go wherever they want. The only time there's a problem is when the cats jump on the pool table when the cover is off. We only have the cover off when we're playing. If they jump up, we don't yell or anything... we just pick them up and place them back on the floor.

As for our pool table, there's no point in confusing a cat as to why it's okay to be on the table one time and not the other.

I did'nt allow my cats on the counter, table, ect. until I got a dog then I changed my mind because I wanted them to be able to jump up away from the dog if they needed to. There are a few places I don't allow them though...such as up on the sink, microwave, entertainment center, stove or refrigerator and they seem to be pretty good about staying off those areas.
Someone else mentioned placing double sided tape on peices of cardboard and placing that on the counters to deter cats from wanting to jump up on them. I think this was a really good suggestion that would probably work well.

my cats are allowed to go where ever they plez.... my kittens used to do the same thing when they were young they would get up on the dinning room table and kock things off and get into everything.. the only thing that worked for me to break them from playing w/ the flowers etc... is by spraying them w/ water everytime they did something like that if they were just up on the table sleeping then thats fine but when they were up their playing them id spray them and in like a week they werent getting into anything on the tables etc.. anymore.... but every cat is different some cats will learn from spaying them and some cats different things work....
