recently my cat garfield was hit by a car and has a broken pelvis... well he has to stay in a cage 4 6-8 weeks and its only been 2 and he is going crazy trying to get outta his cage..i mean he will head butt the cage trying to get out, he will turn his litter box over, spill his food and water and will try and destroy anything i try to put in the cage trying to play w/ it... i dunno what to do im afraid hes gonna hurt himself... i try to let him out at night and in the morning and i sit in front of his cage door and let him come lay on my lap while i pet him but thats not enough 4 him he has so much energey and he dont know what to do w/ it.... but he has to stay in his cage i am not gonna risk him making his broken pelvis worse... i let him out not to long ago to eat w/ the other cats and he was running and trying to jump so he has to stay in there i just dont know what to do to make him stop trying to destroy his cage and possibly hurt himself.... any suggestions????????

Maybe he's ready to walk around a bit? Some cats make quicker recoveries than others.

Why don't you let him walk around an enclosed area with no furniture? It's good exercise, and if he's not suffering any harm, why not.

Keep him indoors for a month or two, if he is an outdoors cat.

Hello. Would it be possible for you to take your kitty to the vet to have another x-ray taken of his pelvis to see how well it's healing? Perhaps it's healed enough to let him out of the cage. If not, then he'll have to wait until it is. It would be up to the vet to decide based on the x-ray. I hope he gets better really soon. Poor guy. I'm sure it's just as tough for him as it is for you to keep him in the cage.
