![]() ![]() ![]() My short haired tabby cat has matted fur. Everytime we cut them out they come right back. She used to only have one but now she has 5. I think it is as a result of us moving. I researched matted cat fur, but what I really want to know is the cause of it. She doesn't seem to be in any pain unless her knot is pulled but why does she have them in the first place!?!?! HELP!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Hello. What kind of food do you feed her? Sometimes, cats that don't have quality food will develope a dull/dry coat, that is prone to matting. If that's not it, it may simply be the type of fur she has, and daily brushing would stop the matting before it occurs. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() i have a cat that used to be overweight and could not reach her tail/back area when she cleaned herself and she would become sooooo matted in that one spot i found this detangler at the pets store that is for dogs and cats after they get a bath that works great...im not sure what the name is but its made by hertz it sells 4 like $6 a bottle and it last awhile... see my cat will not let me give her a bath soo i just wipe her down w/ a wet cloth and then spray the detangler on her and brush her and the mat comes out easily and pain free and no bald spot....she has lost some weight now but still has a hard time reaching that area so i do still spay her down w/ that once a week and i brush her every morning and everynight and she stays matted free... ![]() ![]() ![]() Vitapet is a good fish oil/nutrition supplement i gave my kitties when I first brought them in from the outdoors. At the time they had matted fur, very grungy looking. Trimming off bad hair won't solve the problem, you have to cure it from the root. Give him good nutritional supplements, and I agree with what the others said -get a better quality cat food. Make sure it's free from animal testing too! ///ej IP: Logged |
