Has anyone ever tried acupuncture for their cat? My cat has nerve damage from a broken tail and he has lost urinary and rectal control. This is something we are interested in trying. Just wondering if anyone has had a good outcome!

If you can find a vet that does it on cats give it a try. My vet does it for dogs and horses. They have some amazing success stories.

I take my dog to a holistic vet that does both chiropractic and acunpuncture work (my dog has the chiro work) she said cats respond better to either than dogs do...so I would give it a go certainly can't hurt

Our vet is giving us a referral to another who does acupuncture. I can't wait to see the outcome. I've also heard that it can really help stimulate the nerves. I'm willing to try anthing because the poor things on so many medications that maybe this will help. Thanks so much for the replies...it's so nice to hear success stories and know that there is hope. Thank again!

i would absolutely recommend trying acupunture, and yes, it would be fantastic if you can get your kitty off the medication if this works.
also ask if there is anything you can do for your kitty at home, like muscle strengthening exercises or acupressure points , this will help in between visits.

I will most definately ask about the acupressure, I've been gently massaging his tail everyday...I heard this helps blood circulation. His tail is paralyzed, but I'm trying anything that will help. I'm really worried about his bladder more than anything, because that's what he is taking all of the medication for. He doesn't seem to be in any paid thank goodness!
