Does anyone know if a cat that is 1 1/2 years old with a blood sugar count of 383 definitly has Diabetes? I went to my vet yest. and insisted he do a blood work up. He was shocked to see his blood sugar at 383, especially only being under 2 years of age. I have to bring in a urine sample to him sometime today. Please say a prayer my kitty is ok. I am soooo sad about this & I am trying to think positive!! I had him at the vet back in Novemeber b/c I thought he drank alot fo water and lost a lot fo weight in 1 month. The vet said he was just growing into himself, and swore he was ok! Would not even do a blood test....Now, 4 months later...he lost 1 pound, and has high blood sugar!! I am sooo worried. ( He was really scared being at the vet--he was growling at the vet when he took blood...maybe this is why its so high of a #????) PLease help.

drinking alot and losing weight is a sure sign of diabetes in humans, probably the same in cats =/ and that reading is way high. =[

Hello. I'm a bit confused, as you posted on 2/6/04 that your cat was diabetic. This is from your post on that date.

quote:
We took my little guy back to the vet yesturday for a 2nd blood test. Def. 440, and the lab said 458. He is def. Diabetic! We have him on Inulin now 2 X's aday, and he seems ok. Have to take him back to the Vet evry week to check blood and make sure right amount is distributed. I had no idea about Diabetes, and I was sooo heart broken and upset. But, I think he will be OK. He is only 1 1/2 years old...Hopefully it will regulate & be A-ok! Thanks again.
