I have been feeding a ferral cat for 3 months
I live in NY and this winter has been BRUTAL temperture wise, below zero for about 2 weeks. It kills me that he may freeze to death! How can I help him out? I made a bed with hay and he won't go in it. I have tried to get him in our gargare and or basement..he will NOT go for it. What can I do? Any ideas?

To have survived thus far I would guess he has quite the cosy home somewhere he feels safe. Cats are great natural survivors.

if youre prepared to keep the cat invite him into your home! of course get him vet checked and do all the necessary things if you do so. ferals can be turned into house cats and can sometimes become a real close companion.

i love ferral cats. it's always nice to give a homeless cat a nice comfy abode. love knows no bounds, i don't think one needs a pedigree to know true affection and care.

my 2 cats are (were) ferral. they adapted superb to home life. tomorrow i'm bringing in guppy, a three year old abandoned persian. he had a horrid leg wound, and after treatment, the owners left him at the vet after they found out the exorbitant bill. he's been in the vet since october.

since a persian with a bad leg wound is not top on anyone's list, i decided to take him in. i hope he takes well to the others!

a note though.... always get cats checked for FIV, feline leukemia, and other feline diseases that may be endemic in one's particular area. so as to be sure that the cat will not infect others, or to at least know what one is looking out for.

if you decide to bring your furry friend home darlene, have fun!
